Shibani C

SHIBANI C | Gujarat, India

Shibani is a self-taught Abstract artist (& writer). She creates digital art as well as traditional physical art. She also writes a blog to give an insight into the themes that set the background for her visual art.

When asked about her work and inspirations she said: “All of the work I make is intuitive, as in, it just happens. The visual art I make is spontaneously created right at the moment. I do not plan when or how I’m going to draw/paint and I do not decide the topic beforehand regarding what I’m going to draw/paint either.

I only create something when I feel a natural impulse to do so. When I begin any art piece, I do not know what the end product will look like myself. I try to give myself the freedom to be as chaotic and random when it comes to creating art. I’ve seen that I naturally tend to create portraits with vivid colors and an emphasis on the eyes, at least in the recent past.

Having said that, I have this habit of reading across multiple genres (both fiction and non-fiction) for at least a few hours every day, so I guess that primes my brain, and the themes of what I’m reading at that moment tend to be reflected in that work and my blog. Or if I’m listening to a particular song on repeat, its essence and effect on my mood show up in my artwork too.”
